Bill Lee is a major part of the Mountain Manor golf experience. At the age of 10, Bill’s father, the first president of Mountain Manor Golf Club, introduced him to the game. Bill learned to play golf right here at Mountain Manor and, 45 years, later still finds golf at Mountain Manor to be a perfect way to spend his time.
The first two years of Bill’s professional golf career were as an assistant golf professional at Glen Oak Country Club in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He has worked at Mountain Manor since 1977. Bill has been a Class A head golf professional since 1981.
Bill has won a handful of local pro-am tournaments over the years. This includes tying for 1st place in the old Danny Kaye invitational tournament (1991) that was held yearly at Tamiment Resort and included professionals from the Philadelphia and Atlantic City areas. Bill also won Mountain Manor’s president's club championship in 1974 as an amateur.
“In the years I have been at Mountain Manor I have been fortunate enough to have played a lot of great courses, which include two U.S. open courses (Shinnecock Hills in New York and Merion Golf Club in Philadelphia). No matter where I play, Mountain Manor is always a great time… I don’t know if it is the variety, the scenery, or the challenge, but Mountain Manor always brings a smile to my face.”
Ask Bill about his teaching method and he will tell you, “I do not have one specific teaching method that I prescribe to because I believe that a good teacher must be able to adapt his or her teaching method to each individual student instead of the student trying to adapt to the teacher.”
This laid back and insightful approach clearly works for him and his students as well. Bill is consistently cited by his students as the reason for improvement in their play.
Ask him about Mountain Manor and he will tell you “I have seen all the changes here over 32 years and I think I can answer any questions about Mountain Manor that any prospective golfer may have.” |
